LaPerm catz 5 (Regular) / ** LaPerm (Conflicting)

Description, copied from the now-dead PetzGallery: In 1982, a gray tabby barn cat gave birth to a litter of six kittens. One of them was born completely bald, looking nothing like her mother or her littermates. "Curly" was, without a doubt, the ugliest kitten in the world; no hair, large, wide-spaced ears and a unique pattern on her skin which mimicked a classic tabby pattern. Within eight weeks, the kitten began to grow very soft, curly hair. The soft fur felt was so inviting to the touch. "Curly's" temperament was different too; affectionate, but not demanding, waiting quietly for her turn. She was gentle and trusting with her affection. "Curly" later gave birth to a litter of five male kittens, all of whom were bald at birth. It appeared that the curly gene was dominant and carried by both males and females. And so, a new breed was born: "LaPerm", which means wavy or rippled in several languages.

The fur is the characteristic which sets the LaPerm apart. Ringlet-type curls cover the entire cat. The tightest curls occur on the underside and base of the ears, with a curly, plumed tail. The curl ranges from tight ringlets to long, corkscrew curls. It is soft in texture, but each cat's coat is distinctly unique. Some kittens are born hairless, but most have short, wavy hair at birth. LaPerms' curls hold the hair, much like that of the Poodle, so shedding is minimal. The coat on both the short and long-haired varieties may vary in length and fullness depending upon the season and the maturity of the cat.

LaPerms are very gentle and affectionate. They seek human contact and purr as soon as they become aware of your presence. These cats are face lovers; they will reach for your face with their paws and rub their faces against your head, neck and face. They love being kissed and will kiss back. They beg to be held, drooped over a shoulder or cradled in your arms while resting on their backs. They are inquisitive in nature, always wanting to know what is going on around them. Kittens have been known to stop nursing and seek out the source of a human voice even before their eyes are open.

They are generally quiet-voiced but may be vocal when wanting attention. Being a working cat on the farm, they are excellent hunters, as well as gentle companions. They adapt well to apartment living because of their strong bonding instincts.

*Mitzy Kennels renamed the breed, so Catz II pets are not importable, and assigned different offsets to the Catz 3 and Catz 4 versions, so Pets can not be interchanged between the two game versions

** If you have LaPerms from Catz 3 to import into Catz 5, or no LaPerm petz, use the Regular file.
If you have LaPerms from Catz 4 use the Conflicting file.
See further down this page if you have Catz II pets to import into Catz 5.

The two Catz 5 Versions downloadable above are conversions by Minibyte of Minibyte Kennel & Cattery. Here is her explanation for the two versions:
"The offset from the Catz 4 Version could not be used because it conflicted with the offset for the Egyptian Mau. Therefore, The offset of the Catz 3 version was used and gamers can import Catz 3 LaPerm petz into Catz 5.
"For those gamers who have LaPerm petz from the Catz 4 version of the game, a separate breed file is available. To use the LaPerm CONFLICTING File, you must temporarily store the Egyptian Mau.cat file in a safe place and then put the conflicting LaPerm breed file into the Catz folder. Neither the Egyptian Mau nor the LaPerm will work properly if both are in the Catz folder at the same time!"

The original Petz 2 version was by EPCPS.
The Petz 3 and Petz 4 versions were by Mitsy Kennels. You cannot import Petz II pets using these files.
The Petz 5 versions shown above are conversions by Carol, also known as Minibyte.
The different Petz 5 file shown below is by Trina.

LaPerm
A completely different LaPerm for Catz 5

NOTE: You will need this breedfile if you are trying to import Petz II LaPerms into Petz 5. This is a different LaPerm from the Petz 3 and Petz 4 ones, and was created by Trina who used the same furfile, but otherwise made the breed herself. There are some small differences between this and the ones by Mitsy Kennels which were converted by Minibyte. Also the name and ID number are different from any of the others, so you can run these LaPerms and breed them alongside Minibyte's conversions.

And here's what the Real-life LaPerm looks like. Not downloadable :-) The pictures were also copied from the PetzGallery.
